Strength of the Meeting

How strong and steady do you feel the Meeting is now in terms of it moving from a Preparative Meeting to a Monthly Meeting? If you don’t feel like the Meeting is ready what do you feel needs to be accomplished?

When I first started attending Meeting about 3 years ago we were meeting in the UU church & I thought the Meeting was ready to be a full Monthly Meeting. I believe the average weekly attendance was higher and we had more visitors and newcomers. We also had a wider age range of children in the Meeting. First Day School was conducted by parents and there was more children. I knew nothing of the financial condition of the Meeting then so I cannot compare it to the present. I have never been aware of us receiving any assistance or oversight from Orlando Meeting. Overall our Meeting seems to be functioning on its own but I'm not sure if it is as ready as it appeared to me to be 3 years ago. I think before we become a Monthly Meeting that we need to increase our attendance, solidify our finances, and become more settled in our Meetinghouse.

I have thought about this question more since my original post and decided I left out something important. The nominating committee had difficulty filling all the positions the Meeting needs this year. Plainly speaking, I don't think the Meeting would survive long without the participation of the Vaughen's and their contributions in multiple ways. I don't think the Meeting is ready to be a full Meeting until it is no longer dependent for it's existence on one couple.
